Where to get a copy of WinACE

The WinACE self extracting executable is located on the Wolfpack ftp site.  Note that it is a large file (almost 8 MB), so allow some time for downloading if you are not on a fast connection.

Installation Instructions

Once you have downloaded the WinACE100.exe executable, double click on it in your Windows Explorer to run it.  This will launch the WinACE install module.  Note that WinACE will only install and run on a Windows 95 or Windows NT machine.

WinACE's installation module was built using InstallShield, a leading Window's installation software package.  InstallShield will provide you with prompts to walk through the installation.

WinACE was written in Visual Basic 5.0.  During installation, InstallShield attempts to install any DLL's and OCX's you may need to run Visual Basic programs into your Windows system directories.  Occasionally, with Visual Basic programs, we will see problems registering DLL's during the install process.   Usually, these problems can be worked around.  If you have this or any other problems with installation, e-mail me at [email protected]

Removing WinACE

To remove WinACE, go to the Add/Remove programs option in your control panel.  Double-click on the WinACE entry to de-install the program.    This will remove everything installed by the installation programs.   However, if you have used WinACE after installation, it probably has created some additional data files in the program directory.  These programs will have to be removed by manually using the Windows Explorer.
